Individual essential oils can present with unique chemical compositions dependent upon details like their source location, climate conditions during the source plant’s growth cycle, and so on.

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) is an excellent example of an essential oil with a variety of potential chemotypes: you’ll find camphor, verbenone, 1,8-cineole, pinene, and more among the available chemotypes. Thyme, Basil, and Eucalyptus are just a few of the other essential oils you’re likely to find with specifically-identified chemotypes. You’ll recognize a chemotype listed on the label as Rosemary ct camphor, Rosemary ct verbenone, and so on.
